My mom made chicken paprika when we were kids and I loved it! I was looking around online for the recipe and realized it wasn’t that popular of a dish and it’s Hungarian. How cool is that? Well, I thought it was neat. Now to find more Hungarian food and we could have a whole multicultural experience.
This is a little bit different recipe than my mom made growing up but it’s fantastic!
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cloves crushed garlic or 2 Tablespoons minced garlic
3 pounds chicken (I use chicken breast and other parts to please everyone)
Salt and pepper
1 small bell pepper chopped
1 1/2 Tablespoons paprika
1 cup chicken broth
1 small onion chopped
8 oz. mushrooms (fresh or can)
1 cup sour cream
Pour olive oil in skillet. Brown garlic in the oil. Sprinkle salt and pepper on chicken. Add chicken to garlic with the pepper, paprika, chicken broth, and onion.
Cook until chicken is tender and cook through. About 30 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until mushrooms are done.
Take the chicken out of the pan and onto a serving dish. Add sour cream to the skillet and incorporate into the remaining sauce.
Poor sauce over chicken. You can serve this over egg drop noodles.
