So I’ve been in a workout funk. You know where you don’t want to do anything. Where working out has changed from a challenge and kind of fun to a drudgery where you just want it to be over so you can move on with your life. I found myself just sitting on my bike and kind of working hard, reading a book or surfing the web. My baby is almost 9 months old now and I’ve lost the baby weight but I needed something more. A challenge.
Then I went on pinterest and found Crossfit Mamas. I had seen crossfit before and had heard about it. I wanted to do it but didn’t want to spend the money for the gym membership and when I looked at doing it online it was a puzzle to me. I had no idea where to start, what to do and where to go. I was like the chicken trying to cross the road and unfortunately I was hit along the way.
I was down, I was out.
Then this website picked me up and helped me along. It’s a little confusing coming into it. But she has video’s that show how to do all the different moves and really the equipment you need isn’t that much money. I already had a treadmill. Since running outside in below zero weather isn’t going to work for me. Really running outside isn’t going to work for me. I’m not a runner, no one wants to see that.
From the first day I was sore and for a week I was in pain. But it was good pain. The pain that makes you think, yeah I did something and I’m going to get stronger when I can pick up anything again or sit without groaning.
My pregnancy was pretty hard on me. I won’t bother you with all the junk I had to go through with this last one. I had to workout daily while pregnant. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to gain too much weight or I wanted to stay healthy during pregnancy I had to or else I would be in more pain than I already was. Awful leg cramps that the only thing that helped me was eating more potassium and working out. My lower back was excruciating. The only thing that helped me walk on a daily basis was yoga and my back massager. So after 9 months of being forced to workout I was done. I just wanted a break.
It was hard to get back on the wagon and find something that was fun to do. When I found this it was just what I needed. Now I’m enjoying working out again. I wake up in the morning and think, “what’s the workout today?”
If you’re up for a challenge and ready to be sore. I highly recommend crossfit.
